Flowers From the Flock: Needle-Felted Sunflowers

Celebrate sunflower season by turning locally raised wool into a cheerful bloom that will never wilt!

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn the art of needle felting as you create your own sunflower from wool grown right here in Colorado. You'll shape petals, build the flower's center, and add leaves and a stem to create a finished piece that's ready to display or gift.

No prior felting experience is needed. Whether you're brand new to fiber arts or have felted before, you'll leave with a beautiful handmade sunflower and the confidence to continue exploring this cozy craft.

You’ll Learn:

• Needle‑felting basics and safe tool use

• How to sculpt petals, centers, and stems

• Techniques for shaping and refining wool into floral forms

• Tips for color blending and adding personality to your blooms

You’ll Take Home:

• One or two handcrafted needle-felted sunflowers—finish one during class and, if time allows, start a second. If you don't complete it, you'll head home with the skills and the needles you need to finish at your own pace.

• A deeper connection to local fiber and handmade craft

All materials and tools are provided. Just bring your creativity!

Alrighty, now that you know WHAT you're doing, learn about WHO you're doing it with! Our lovely instructor is Noelle, from Big Ash Farm. The wool you will be using comes from her farm - literally farm to table, turned into flowers! She also hand dies the wool herself. Its truly a unique experience to work with Noelle (in a good way!) I was lucky enough to visit her at the farm recently and meet the kind sheep who supply us our wool.

• There is no minimum age for this workshop. Please note that we will be using sharp felting needles, so if you plan to bring a minor, we encourage you to use your judgment and make the decision that feels right for your family.

• Advance registration required. Spots must be reserved ahead of time so we can prep materials accordingly. Because of this, tickets are non-refundable. 

• Wine and beer will be available for purchase, so you can sip while you create!
